Creative director and cinematographer in Tokyo. Studio Director at SET K.K., running production end to end — concept and camera through grade and delivery — for brands including Bvlgari, Nike, Google, Sony, Audi, Infiniti and Range Rover, and for BBC StoryWorks, CNBC, CNN Create, Deloitte and the Prime Minister's Office of Japan.
I came up backwards through the pipeline: editor and motion designer first, then Director of Post Production, then behind the camera. That order is why the finish tends to stay with me — shot, graded and finished by the same eyes, so a look is designed once rather than renegotiated at every handoff. Twenty years in Tokyo, and still building the tooling: custom multirotors before drones were standard, 4K proxy pipelines before they were, and lately depth capture, volumetric scanning and AI-assisted workflows.
American, permanent resident, working in Japanese and English on fully Japanese crews and international ones alike. Recent recognition includes a Silver at the 2026 Drum Awards for Marketing APAC, for Oku Matsushima with BBC StoryWorks and JNTO. Currently looking for more VFX-driven shoots and automotive work.
